The Washington Capitals are celebrating a tight victory over the Boston Bruins tonight, and all eyes were on top prospect Ryan Leonard who suited up for his first game in the big leagues.
This game presented a few intriguing storylines, including Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin netting another crucial goal, bringing him one step closer to Wayne Gretzky's record in the "Great Chase" to 895.
While Ovechkin's goal was one of the bright moments of the game, Washington Capitals top prospect Ryan Leonard stole the show, delivering an impressive performance to kick-off his NHL.

Despite Alexander Ovechkin stealing the headlines tonight, it was truly Ryan Leonard's time to shine.
Tonight marked an important milestone in the young forward's career, with all his friends and family in the stands to cheer him on.

Ryan Leonard, a native of Amherst, MA, had the incredible opportunity to play in front of a sold out crowd at TD Garden in his home state.
Despite the pressure to perform, Leonard rose to the occasion, making his presence felt early by laying a crushing hit at centre ice.
With ten minutes left in the third, Dylan Strome caught a mondo rebound off the back boards to restore Washington's lead. Tom Wilson got an insurance goal, which was good because David Pastrnak responded 30 seconds later.
Although Ryan Leonard failed to record a point, he was on the ice during Dylan's Strome's goal, showcasing a ton of work ethic on the forecheck.
I think it's safe to say that Leonard's NHL debt was a massive success. Despite the shaky win, the Capitals faithful should feel extremely good about their newest player.
