Charlie Lindgren and the Washington Capitals head to Minnesota with an injury update that also shapes the Wild lineup.

Tuesday night comes with real standings weight, Washington sits 18-10-4 and Minnesota is 19-9-5. The big Caps note is Lindgren getting the crease after recently missing time with an upper-body issue.
Lindgren is 31, he's from Lakeville, Minnesota, and his season line sits at 5-3-1 with a 2.90 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. That matters because Logan Thompson has carried a heavier load, and his 13-6-2 record with a 1.96 goals-against average has been a cushion.
Up front, Sonny Milano is projected back in, with Bogdan Trineyev the odd man out as the extra. Trineyev is the Caps' 2020 fourth-round pick, 117th overall, and it's a reminder that Washington is still juggling depth.
The tactical ripple is simple, Milano gives Spencer Carbery another winger who can exit clean and enter with control. When Washington's breakouts get messy, that usually turns into missed looks from the slot and extra shifts defending.

Capitals injury update meets Wild return news

Caps fans have been waiting to see Milano's hands back in the mix, because too many shifts lately have died on the wall.
Milano was the 16th pick in 2014 by Columbus, and he plays a pace game that fits modern transition hockey. If he can make one clean touch on the power play, it can settle the whole bench.
On Minnesota's side, Marcus Foligno is expected back after missing time with a lower-body injury, and that adds bite to their forecheck. The Wild are still dealing with key absences, with Marcus Johansson listed day to day and Zach Bogosian not expected to play.
The bigger concern for Minnesota is the blue line, with Jonas Brodin out and both Mats Zuccarello and Jake Middleton on injured reserve. That pushes more workload onto Brock Faber and Jared Spurgeon, and it can open seams for Washington's weak-side looks.
For the Caps, Ryan Leonard and Pierre-Luc Dubois remain out, so this is still a lineup that has to win shifts honestly. If Lindgren keeps rebounds quiet and the forwards win races on the dump-in, Tuesday can be the kind of road win you build on.
