It's with great sadness we announce the passing of a former Washington Capitals alumni, Murray Anderson.
The Washington Capitals are saddened to learn of the passing of alumnus Murray Anderson. Anderson was a member of the inaugural team, appearing in 40 games with Washington during the 1974-75 season. Anderson, who was the first player in franchise history to wear No. 8, will forever be a part of our organization's history.

Washington Capitals say goodbye to Murray Anderson
This one hurts, to say the least.
After a crushing second round playoff loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, this news definitely hurts Caps' fans even more.
Murray Anderson was lived and breathed the Washington Capitals organization.
Interesting, Anderson was the first member of the Capitals to sport the number «8», and number that would ultimately go down as one of the most legendary numbers in NHL history.

The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn that Murray Anderson has passed away at the age of 75.
Murray played his junior career with the famous Flin Flon Bombers, who were only 90 minutes from Murray's hometown of The Pas, Manitoba.
Selected by the Montréal Canadiens in the fourth round of the 1969 NHL Entry Draft, Murray played his first professional season in 1970-71, splitting time between the Montréal Voyageurs and the Rochester Americans. By his fourth professional season in 1973-74, Murray had been named team captain for the AHL's New Haven Nighthawks
