Logan Thompson keeps stacking wins for the Washington Capitals while chasing Colorado Avalanche goalie Scott Wedgewood in the league's goaltending race.

Tuesday in Los Angeles, Thompson turned aside 24 of 25 shots in a 3 to 1 win over the Kings, stretching Washington's streak to five straight victories and eight wins in its last nine outings.
Capitals PR added that the undrafted netminder has stopped 54 of 56 shots over his last two starts, a ridiculous .964 save percentage that shows just how locked in he looks right now.
Those numbers now come with real hardware, as his 12 wins rank second in the NHL and trail only Scott Wedgewood's 13 victories for Colorado, the surprise workhorse behind that powerhouse Avalanche start.
After the Kings game, his comments could not have been more typical, all about the group in front of him and almost nothing about himself. For a goalie chasing league leaders in wins, that kind of low key, humble answer says as much as any highlight reel save.

Logan Thompson keeps pressure on Scott Wedgewood

Washington acquired Thompson from Vegas in a 2024 draft weekend trade. He was so good last season that the Capitals handed him a six year, 35.1 million dollar extension in January.
Even before the Kings game, he carried a 2.15 goals against and .912 save percentage through 16 appearances, strong numbers for a starter seeing heavy minutes.
On the ice, Thompson is giving Washington structure, turning away rush chances like he did on several third period Kings looks and swallowing rebounds so the Caps' young defense can hold the middle.
He earned an NHL Second Star of the Month last year, so this heater is nothing new. Beat San Jose on Wednesday, and Thompson will be even closer to Wedgewood in the wins race.
