Sonny Milano receives failing grade in 2024-2025 report card

Making an NHL line-up is difficult at the best of times, even more so when you don't get an opportunity to play. Milano was a healthy scratch for the better part of his season, and went scoreless and was a -3 in the three games in which he did play.

Sonny Milano had not been in the Capital's line-up since November, first as a healthy scratch, and then because of an upper body injury he suffered. He worked hard to come back, but it would be to no avail.

Milano was a first-round pick in 2014. In the 11 years in which he has played, a total of 313 games, Sonny scored 62 goals and 75 assists, for a total of 137 points.

In 3 seasons with the Washington Capitals he appeared in 118 games; Milano scored 26 goals and 30 assists, for a total of 56 points. One year remains on the contract extension he signed in 2023.

It is clear that Sonny Milano's utility to the team is as a depth player. Given that the Washington Capital's will be looking to add depth in the off-season, the winger has an opportunity to make the line-up and prove his worth.

But he will have to work hard to get a good look from coach Carbery; hard to get healthy, and just as hard to strengthen his play on both ends of the ice.
