The Washington Capitals are closing out a heated matchup against the Montreal Canadiens, but a scary scene involving goaltender Logan Thompson has left fans concerned.

In the late stages of the 3rd perird, Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky scored an impressive goal to put the Canadiens up 5-3, but Capitals forward Dylan Strome went hard into the net, making contact with goaltender Logan Thompson.
Thompson took a scary cross-check to the head by Dylan Strome and stayed down for an extended period of time.
Unfortunately, Logan Thompson left the match and has not returned.
According to House of Hockey, Thompson was hurt after accidentally being run into by teammate Dylan Strome immediately after Montreal's Juraj Slavkovsky slipped the puck past him for a 5-3 Canadiens lead in the 3rd period.

Strome inadvertently cross-checked Thompson up high as he was attempting to stop from running into him. He remained down on the ice for several moments before being tended to by a team trainer, and he required the assistance of his teammates to help get him off the ice.

This is a tough blow for the Washington Capitals.
Thompson had only recently made his return after recovering from an undisclosed injury suffered earlier this month.
His road back to full health has been a long one, with even his availability for Game 1 of the playoffs in doubt.
Despite that, Thompson has performed admirably through the first two games of the series, showing few signs of rust.
That's what makes tonight's scare even more concerning -- he went down hard and required help getting off the ice.
So far tonight, Thompson has allowed 5 goals on 37 shots.
Charlie Lindgren will finish the game for the Washington Capitals.
For most of the 2024-25 NHL campaign, Logan Thompson has been a front-runner for the Vezina Trophy, and this scary injury could not have come at a worse time.
