Alex Ovechkin just checked another NHL history box for the Washington Capitals, stacking road points like almost nobody ever has.

In Tuesday's 3-1 win in Los Angeles, Ovechkin grabbed two assists in typical quiet-star fashion. The second helper pushed him to 800 career road points, making him just the seventh player in league history.
Alex Ovechkin keeps stacking road points
Watching him pile up records at this age, it really feels like Capitals fans are running out of fresh adjectives.
The 800 road points marker is another way of saying opponents still cannot keep him quiet when he sleeps in a hotel bed.
Road points are a grind stat, built over endless flights, back to backs and bad ice, and Wayne Gretzky unsurprisingly sits miles ahead of everyone with 1,298.
Ovechkin joining a group that small, even without leading it, reinforces how long he has been a problem in other buildings.
The milestone also lands less than two weeks after he moved into the top ten on the overall NHL points list with that four point night in Montreal.
This is a guy who scored goal number 900 earlier this season and still finds new columns on the records page to occupy.
One of those assists came right after he stepped out of the penalty box, starting a 2 on 1 that turned into Anthony Beauvillier's go ahead goal.
The other was a secondary helper on Tom Wilson's first period power play tap in, part of a quietly improving Capitals man advantage.
NHL.com notes that he now has 463 goals and 337 assists in 760 road games, which works out to more than a point per trip for his career.
On top of that, Tuesday marked his 1,518th game with Washington, tying Ray Bourque for sixth most with one franchise, while the Capitals pushed to 16-9-2 and 8-1-0 in their past nine.
