Martin Fehervary owned the HockeyStatCards chatter as the Washington Capitals thumped the Chicago Blackhawks 5 1.

Friday at United Center felt like a reset, not a fluke. Washington jumped on a sick depleted Chicago lineup and snapped the Blackhawks' four game heater with a workmanlike road win.
The Caps scored three times in the first, then kept the game boring in the best way. Connor McMichael posted a goal and an assist, and Alex Ovechkin stayed scorching with his fourth goal in three games.
Fehervary was the quiet engine under it all, and he piled up two assists from the back end. The 26 year old, a 2018 second round pick by Washington, kept turning chaos into clean touches and quick exits.

Caps fans have been waiting for Fehervary to get real credit, and Friday finally looked like his night. HockeyStatCards loved him too, spitting out a massive 4.99 GameScore, with John Carlson next at 3.17.
The way Fehervary played it was simple and nasty. He closed gaps early, killed plays at the blue line, then hit the first pass that lets Washington exit without panic and re attack with speed.
That speed showed up on the McMichael line, with Ryan Leonard and Justin Sourdif riding shotgun and pushing play north. Leonard, Washington's eighth overall pick in 2023, chipped in two assists and kept winning races on the forecheck.
Chicago got one back on an Oliver Moore power play strike, but Washington's penalty kill survived the scary moments. Logan Thompson handled 23 shots, and the Caps kept most rebounds out of the slot.
Ovechkin's rush goal late was the final stamp, and it even came with a milestone note, his 187th different goalie scored on. If this road trip is going to turn, the next checkpoint is keeping that same connected five man look on the next stop.
