While the news was undoubtedly a major disappointment for the former Washington Capitals legend, it quickly sparked a wave of speculation about a possible reunion with the Capitals. However, those rumours have now been put to rest.
After a disappointing season with SKA Saint Petersburg, it appears that Evgeny Kuznetsov might have another shot to revitalize his career.
According to sources, Evgeny Kuznetsov is now being considered by another KHL club, Ak Bars Kazan.

According to my information, the probability of forward Evgeny Kuznetsov's transfer to Ak Bars next season is quite high. Kazan head coach Anvar Gatiyatulin is in favor of signing the star hockey player.
Kuznetsov's agent Shumi Babayev said of the report per Sport-Express, «There is no rush, teams are constantly contacting us. We are currently negotiating with KHL clubs.»
Despite a fresh start with SKA, Kuznetsov's return to the KHL didn't go as planned, as injuries hindered his performance.
Over 39 regular-season games, he recorded 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points, including 38 penalty mins and a respectable +13 rating on the ice.
After SKA's elimination from the playoffs, fans flooded GM Chris Patrick with demands to bring Kuzy back for one last run with the Caps'.
