The Washington Capitals are set to kick off their opening-round playoff series tonight against the Montreal Canadiens, and one of the biggest questions leading up to puck drop has centered around the team's goaltending situation.
At this morning's optional skate, both Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren took the ice, giving fans a hopeful glimpse at the Capitals' tandem ahead of Game 1.
Logan Thompson, who left the April 2 game against the Carolina Hurricanes with an undisclosed injury after just one period, had many worried he could miss significant postseason time -- especially with Vezina chatter swirling earlier in the season.
But according to multiple insiders, those concerns can be put to rest. While head coach Spencer Carbery has yet to officially confirm the starter for tonight's matchup against the Habs, all signs now point to Logan Thompson getting the nod.
Carbery won't confirm whether he or Charlie Lindgren starts.
