Dylan Strome and Alex Ovechkin line shuffle has Washington Capitals fans buzzing, with Anthony Beauvillier caught in the change.

Strome didn't sugarcoat it after the latest remix, saying other lines were rolling while «myself, O, and Beau weren't producing.» That honesty matters because Washington has leaned on that trio for most of the season.
The split showed up fast against Detroit, with Ovechkin skating with Connor McMichael and Justin Sourdif while Strome centered Aliaksei Protas and Tom Wilson. Beauvillier slid into a different look with Nic Dowd, and the whole top nine felt reshaped.
Tactically, it's a classic Carbery nudge, spread the puck touches and force cleaner entries instead of waiting for one line to solve everything. The bonus is Strome can drive the middle with Wilson on retrievals, while Ovechkin gets quicker support for shot volume.

Caps fans can live with tweaks, but they want that top group to look dangerous again at five on five.
Strome, 28, was the No. 3 pick in 2015 by Arizona, and last season he posted a career-best 82 points, 29 goals and 53 assists. That's why the lull stings, he's not a passenger, he's supposed to be the engine.
Washington still kept its big pieces connected on special teams, and that's important because the power play remains the cleanest path to momentum. The Capitals grabbed a point in Detroit and sit on 43 points, but they need five-on-five finishes to match their work.
If this shuffle sticks into the next stretch, the real test is simple, does the Ovechkin group create more slot looks, and does Strome's line turn zone time into goals. Either way, the next game is the next checkpoint for chemistry, and this team can't afford to wait long.
