The Washington Capitals are gearing up for Game 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes, but a new development regarding defenceman Jalen Chatfield has given the Caps' are serious advantage. According to head coach Rod Brind'Amour, Chatfield has been ruled out with an injury and will be unavailable for an indefinite amount of time.
According to insider Tom Gultitti, Rod Brind'Amour said he expected Chatfield to play after skated this morning and Chatfield was at arena early in workout clothes, so apparently a late decision for him not to play.

For the better part of the 2024-2025 season, Chatfield was a thorn in the side of the Washington Capitals.
Throughout the series, Jalen Chatfield has been a huge contributor to the Carolina Hurricanes success, so his absence comes as a significant blow to head coach Rod Brind'Amour.
After Game 4, Rod Brind'Amour revealed that Jalen Chatfield «tweaked» something during the match. Initially, he reported that the defenceman would be «fine,» but a last-minute development has thrown a wrench into the Hurricanes starting lineup.
While no one truly knows the severity of the injury, his absence presents a huge opportunity for the capitals to extend the series.
