Following a shaky showing in Game 1, the Washington Capitals bounced back in Game 2 with a strong 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, tying their second-round series at one game apiece.
Capitals defenseman John Carlson played a huge factor in the team's victory on Thursday night.
Carlson awarded game puck after scoring the game-winning goal in Game 2 against the Hurricanes.
Ian Oland from RMNB writes that inside the locker room following the game, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery praised his team's effort, highlighting several players for stepping up during critical moments of the game.

Thompson, who received the playoff game puck after Washington's Game 5 win over Montreal, selected John Carlson as the standout player of the night.
Carlson netted the game-winner just 1:54 into the third period, burying a beautiful power-play pass from Tom Wilson.

According to NHL PR, Carlson's goal marked the 10th time he's contributed to a game-winning tally in the postseason, passing Scott Stevens for the most by a defenseman in Capitals history.
John Carlson's first goal of the 2025 #StanleyCup Playoffs stood as the game winner and helped the @Capitals even their series before it moves to Carolina.
Carlson led all Capitals skaters in Game 2 with 25:07 of ice time, anchoring the blue line while contributing on both ends of the ice.
Game 3 is set for Saturday at 6:00pm in Carolina.
