Sometimes, the best teammates know how to lighten the mood - even after an embarrassing moment. Anthony Beauvillier proved exactly that this week with a perfectly timed prank on his close friend and former teammate Mathew Barzal.

After Barzal was a surprise healthy scratch for missing a team meeting earlier in the week, he returned to the New York Islanders locker room to find a little reminder waiting in his stall: an alarm clock. The message? Set it next time.
Reporter Stefen Rosner confirmed the story, sharing Barzal's amused reaction when asked who was responsible. «Yeah, it was Beau,» Barzal said with a grin, before launching into a long conversation about his longtime friend and former teammate.
Beauvillier, now with the Washington Capitals, spent seven seasons with the Islanders and remains one of Barzal's closest friends in hockey. The two came up together in the organization, were linemates for multiple seasons, and have often joked publicly about their brother-like bond. The prank - playful, pointed, and classic Beauvillier - was the perfect mix of friendship and accountability.

According to Barzal, the two had texted earlier that day. «He told me to check my stall,» Barzal laughed. «I guess that's his way of making sure I don't miss anything again.» The Islanders star took the joke in stride, saying it was «pretty good timing» and exactly the kind of thing Beauvillier would do.
Here's Rosner's tweet confirming the prank:
The Islanders have had a rough stretch lately, but moments like this offer a peek into the lighter side of the sport - where friendships outlast trades and rivalries. Beauvillier may be wearing red now, but his humor still echoes through the Isles' locker room.
As Barzal summed it up with a smirk: «That's Beau for you - always keeping me on time, even when he's not here.»
