Alexander Ovechkin could break another important record during the 2025 playoffs

Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin is coming off an incredible milestone career after breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record - but he's not done yet. According to sources, Ovechkin is poised to break yet another NHL record, this one for the most power-play goals in playoff history.
Even at 39 years of age, there's still no sign of slowing down for Alexander Ovechkin.
Late in the regular season, Alexander Ovechkin accomplished what many once believed impossible - breaking the NHL's all-time goal record with a standout performance against the New York Islanders, capping off the year with an impressive 44 goals.
The Washington Capitals are gearing up for a heated second round showdown against the Carolina Hurricanes, and Ovi has another significant milestone ahead of him: becoming the NHL's all-time leader in power-play goals.

As it stands, the all-time playoff power-play goal leader is the legendary Brett Hull, who leads the NHL with 38 career tallies.
Not far behind are Mike Bossy and Wayne Gretzky, both tied with 35.
At the start of the season, Alexander Ovechkin suffered a broken leg, and many fans assumed his shot at the scoring record was done.
But in true Alexander Ovechkin fashion, he silenced the doubters with an incredible comeback and reminded everyone why he's one of the game's greats.
Sure, scoring nine more playoff power-play goals to surpass Hull might seem like a tall order.
However, if the Capitals make a deep postseason run, it's not out of the realm of possibility.
If we've learned anything over the years, it's this: never bet against Alexander Ovechkin.
The Washington Capitals will begin their second round series against the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night at 7:00 PM ET.
With the Caps' power-play currently firing on all cylinders, don't be surprised if Alexander Ovechkin notches a couple goals from his office and chases down yet another unthinkable milestone.
Alexander Ovechkin definitely has the potential to prove fans wrong, and we may be looking at another huge record falling this postseason.
