Alex Ovechkin signs thousand of pucks and photos before departing for Russia

Prior to heading to Russia, where Ovi will spend the summer with his family, and then train closer to the start of the hockey season, he signed pucks and photos of the epic, NHL goal-scoring event.

In fact, 1000's of pucks and photos. The milestone pieces were labelled, 'special event items', on the Fanatics website, where they were available prior to them being signed by Ovi, and were slated to be shipped at a later date - they had yet to be signed at this point by Ovechkin.

Ovechkin's wife, Nastya Ovechkina, recorded the session of her husband finally placing his autograph on the many 1000's of items, on a video she posted on Instagram Story.

The video shows Ovi signing rows upon rows of pucks with the Capitals logo, and writing the inscription, 895 and 4.6.25. On the table, you can see the 1000's of bellyflop celly photos, captured on both 16x20 and 8x10 prints.

As you can imagine, items like these are highly sought after on the Sport's Memorabilia market, in particular from legends like Ovechkin, whose signed items keep pace with Michael Jordan's, Kobe Bryant's and Wayne Gretzky's, to name but a few of the industry's giants.

It seems the signed, NHL goal record pucks are no longer available on Fanatics, though the photos can still be purchased on their website.
